What clothing do I wear?
For the dressage phase, dress should be show jacket and beige or white jodhpurs. Light colored gloves should be worn. Competitors may wear jodhpur boots with matching half chaps or gaiters.
For showjumping, dress should be as for dressage. However, you will not be penalised for wearing a body protector over your show jacket.
For cross-country, dress should be beige or white jodhpurs with sweat top/jersey. A BETA Level 3 body protector (purple label) which has been manufactured in the year 2000 or after must be worn. If a rider chooses to wear an airbag style body protector it must be worn over a permitted body protector.
Riding hats to the standards PAS015, ASTMF1163 or BSEN 1384 with Kitemark, SEI or QAS are compulsory and must be properly fastened at all times the rider is mounted. BSI 4472 (1988) and BSI 6473 are no longer recognised standards.
Juniors may not wear spurs for the dressage or any other phase
Bring your hat and body protector to the entries wagon for inspection when you come to collect your number, along with a £10 refundable deposit.
How is the competition scored?
The scoring is based on ‘points lost’ throughout the three phases of the competition.
For Dressage, the total score awarded by the judge will be deducted from the maximum possible score of 200. ½ of this figure is then used as your score.
Showing penalties will be incurred for knock-downs and refusals.
Cross-countries will be incurred for refusals, fall of rider or finishing faster or slower than the optimum time.
Scores will be added together and the competitor with the lowest score is the winner. (In the event of a tie, the competitor with the best cross-country score will be the winner.)
Can I have the dressage test read to me?
Yes, in the Beginners classes, but not for the Novice competition.
When can I walk the course?
From around 4p.m. on the Friday ,Saturday before the event, or any time on the actual day itself. The Beginners course will have blue numbers, the Novice course numbers will be red. (Note: the showfield gate may be locked Saturday evening for security, if so, please park neatly on the side of the road and climb over the gate.)
If I am eliminated in showjumping, can I still do the cross-country course?
This will be up to the discretion of the showjumping judge. If elimination is due to a technical error (missed jump etc) then you will be allowed to go on. If, however, the judge thinks it will be detrimental to your safety to carry on, then you will not be allowed to do the cross-country phase.
How can I find out my time?
Times will be posted on the Antrobus RC website on the Friday afternoon prior to the event. If you would like to discuss your entry please contact Debbie on 07979412011
If you are travelling with a friend and want times close together, please indicate on the entry form and we will try and accommodate you.
